Avoid wasting your unused extra cards by knowing the ways that you can do with duplicates in Pokemon TCG Pocket!
While many people download Pokemon TCG Pocket to play a less complicated version of Pokemon TCG, there are few who just want to enjoy the app by growing their digital card collection.
Speaking of digital Pokemon cards, since Pokemon TCG Pocket allows free opening of two booster packs per day, lots of players since the launch date have been left with a massive number of duplicate cards.
If you’re one of those players who are curious about how you can benefit from your duplicate cards, this post is a must-read for you.

What Are Duplicates in Pokemon TCG Pocket?

As the name suggests, a duplicate refers to an extra copy of a card that you already pulled.
If you want to reveal your cards with the highest number of duplicates, click the Sort option under the My Cards tab, and select Duplicates.
Press the Duplicates option again to rearrange your cards so the cards with the highest duplicates will be shown at the top.
Since the release of Pokemon TCG Pocket last year, there are a total of four sets that you can choose from when opening packs. And as more sets are released in the future, it’s no surprise that everyone will get lots of duplicates over time.
What to Do With Your Duplicate Cards?
You can make good use of your duplicate cards by:
- Exchanging them for flairs.
- Converting them to trade tokens. (only for three-diamond cards or higher)
- Exchanging them for special shop tickets (only for one-star rare cards or higher)
Obtaining Flairs

A flair is an option that allows you to add aesthetic effects to a card. To add a flair to a specific card in Pokemon TCG Pocket, you’ll need to own a certain number of duplicates of that card, as well as shinedust, which is obtainable by opening packs or completing missions.
Take note that you can’t get the flair of a card if you only have two copies of it. Let’s say you want to add a flair to a Gengar ex.
If the flair you’re trying to add needs one duplicate of the said Pokemon, you won’t be able to do it even if you have two Gengar ex cards. In this case, you’ll need to have three Gengar ex to initiate the process.
You can equip flairs to the cards you use in your decks to see their effects initiated in matches.
Trade Tokens

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s trading feature requires two resources: trade stamina and trade tokens. Like the other meters in the game, trade stamina replenishes over time, while trade tokens can be acquired by sacrificing cards with a rarity of three diamonds or higher.
Important: The highest rarity allowed for trading in the game so far is one star. Two stars, three stars, and Crown Rares aren’t available for trading yet, so keep this in mind if you want to exchange them for trade tokens.
You can see the main option for getting trade tokens by clicking on the Obtain Item for a card, just like how you can exchange flairs.
Special Shop Tickets

Special shop tickets are a type of currency that you can use to buy special accessories at the Shop. We don’t recommend spending your duplicates, specifically your rarest cards, just to buy a new style of playmat, card sleeve, backdrop, or coin, as you can get them by other means like events.
Final Thoughts
Now that you can do something with your duplicates in Pokemon TCG Pocket, the choice is yours on whether you want to exchange them for flairs, trade tokens, or special shop tickets.
If you have multiple copies of extremely rare cards, like Crown Rares, Immersive Rares, or Rainbow Rares, it’s better to avoid sacrificing them for all the methods mentioned in this article, as there might be better features where you can use them in the future.
Meanwhile, if you don’t have enough duplicates in your collection, the only thing you can do is keep on opening your free packs and find opportunities to get more Pack Hourglasses. Eventually, you’ll get sick of pulling the same cards, and voila! More duplicates for your collection!
