151, also known as Pokemon 151, is a special expansion that is unique due to a couple of reasons. First, it’s the first and only Pokemon TCG expansion that uses numbers as an entire name for a set. Second, this set only features the exact 151 Pokemon listed in the first Generation, making it quite valuable for older fans who witnessed the growth of the franchise.
All classic Gen 1 Pokemon will be reprinted in this set, giving them new artworks and card styles that fit with the other sets in the Scarlet and Violet era.
For those who recently bought Pokemon TCG products from 151, you might want to confirm if they’re legal for the Standard Format by reading our Pokemon TCG rotation guide.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151 Expansion Highlights
- Stunning artwork for Kanto’s starter Pokemon. Try to collect all the Kanto starters in their well-drawn full art cards that perfectly match their typing.
- All the 151 Pokemon are on the loose. Old is gold, as they say. Regardless of what Gen 1 Pokemon you prefer, you can always find at least one copy of it in 151.
- The return of the fossils. Trainer cards featuring fossils will also be available in the 151 set. You can play these cards like Basic Pokemon, and have them evolve into strong critters later on.
- Cards that tell a story as they evolve. Many Basic Pokemon cards in 151 will tell a story in their artworks, which can continue in the other cards that depict their next evolution stage.
Most Anticipated Cards in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151
Special Illustration Rare Charizard ex. While it does have a simplified artwork, Charizard is still a Charizard. And nope, its moveset isn’t the same as the Charizard ex in Obsidian Flames, but it might be a good addition when building a Charizard ex deck.
Special Illustration Zapdos ex. Another classic Pokemon with an eye-catching background. Pulling this card feels like you also pulled its fellow legendary birds, Articuno and Zapdos.
Special Illustration Blastoise ex. This Kanto starter will be as durable as ever with its 151 card, which can only be countered by a strong Electric-type Pokemon.
Illustration Rare Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. Oh, the nostalgic trio we’ve always loved. Look for them as well while opening packs of Pokemon 151.
