Druddigon card in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Delay your opponent’s aggressive plays with some return damage by trying this standard Druddigon deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket!

Are you looking for a deck that takes advantage of the rare Dragon type? While there are already a handful of Dragon types in Pokemon TCG Pocket, many players still remember the potential of Druddigon with its ability to deal damage by just getting hit by the enemy’s Active Pokemon.

Due to its Rough Skin, Druddigon is one of the best and most annoying stallers in the game. This card fits well with lots of deck builds, especially those that rely on Pokemon that take some time to develop, like Gyarados ex.

If you’re looking for an efficient Druddigon deck that can score you wins in Solo and Versus modes, this deck has a unique mechanic that can help you do just that!

Main Strategy

The Main Card For The Druddigon Deck In Pokemon Tcg Pocket
Gyarados Ex From Mythical Island Set

This deck utilizes the power of Gyarados ex to score KOs while Greninja sits on the Bench Spot to deal some tick damage. However, these Pokemon require some turns to go online, and that’s where you’ll need Druddigon.

Ideally, you should have Druddigon as one of your starting cards, plus a Rocky Helmet to amplify Druddigon’s Rough Skin ability. You won’t need to attach any Energies to Druddigon, since all it does is stall the game, so you’ll have enough time to collect the pieces you need for Gyarados ex and Greninja.

Let your opponent smash through Druddigon as they continue to take some damage from Rough Skin, and once your Gyarados ex is ready, you can use Leaf to switch Druddigon with Gyarados ex and let the serpent take care of the rest.

Other prominent cards in the deck

Poke Ball and Professor’s Research

These cards serve as your tools for finding Druddigon if you don’t have it on your first turn. We decided to stick with Poke Ball instead of Pokemon Communication, so it kind of increases the odds of getting a Druddigon, which is a Basic Pokemon card.

Rocky Helmet

As already mentioned, Rocky Helmet is like an extension of Druddigon’s Rough Skin, so it can deal as much as 40 damage just by absorbing damage from the opponent’s Pokemon.

Misty and Leaf

You might be wondering why we only have a copy of Misty and Leaf in this deck. As we all know, Misty is the best card for accelerating the efficiency of all Water-type Pokemon in the game, so if we have a couple of it, it might make Druddigon less effective, as it excels in dragging out battles.

Misty is also heavily RNG dependent, so we might have some trouble relying on such a card in various situations.

As for Leaf, we want to ensure that Druddigon will be a kamikaze-type card that will wear down the enemy Pokemon’s HP before going down, and most of the time, this deck is keen on giving a point to the opponent if that will allow Gyarados ex to prepare for at least one more turn.

However, if you have a Leaf on your hand and you can use it to Retreat your wounded Druddigon, feel free to do so.

Strengths

Druddigon deck is ideal for highly aggressive builds since it makes your opponent think twice before attacking you. Once Gyarados ex can take the center stage, your opponent is about to get a nice treat with its 140-damage Rampaging Pool, which can get rid of most Pokemon in the game.

Additionally, as a Water-type deck, it can gain an advantage against Fire-type decks, particularly Charizard ex, Rapidash, and Volcarona decks.

Weaknesses

Of course, avoid using this deck against Lightning-type decks, as the sheer type disadvantage can go against your Greninja and Gyarados ex.

Also, if you’re unfortunate enough to get nothing but a couple of Magikarp at the start of the game, you better use whatever cards you have to retrieve a Druddigon or else your opponent might finish you off with a 50-damage move to take out your squishy Magikarp.

Final Thoughts

Druddigon deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket is a fun build to try, thanks to its unconventional mechanics and high damage capabilities.

Using this deck requires great timing and decision-making skills on the part of the player, so you better practice this first on Solo Battles and don’t hesitate to make some modifications if you want.

As Druddigon doesn’t have any type weaknesses, you can play it against many decks in the game, especially those that are fast enough to attack in the early turns.
