Here’s a deck list that you need to complete:
- 2x Electabuzz (Space-Time Smackdown set)
- 2x Electivire
- 2x Magnemite (Genetic Apex, Pikachu Pack)
- 2x Magneton (Genetic Apex set)
- 2x Magnezone (Space-Time Smackdown set)
- 2x Professor’s Research (Promo-A)
- 2x Volkner
- 1x Cyrus
- 2x Pokemon Communication
- 1x Poke Ball
- 1x Giant Cape
- 1x Rocky Helmet
Main Strategy for This Build

This deck will rely on the offensive power of both Electivire and Magnezone. Magnezone can set up itself with enough Energies, thanks to Magneton’s Volt Charge Ability. Electivire, on the other hand, can also do the same through Electabuzz’s Charge move, which allows you to deal damage within turn 2 or 3.
Electivire should be your primary attacker, as it becomes more powerful if you have at least 2 Lightning-type Energies attached to it. Its move, Exciting Voltage, can deal as much as 120 damage, which might further increase if the receiving Pokemon is weak to Lightning types.
Volkner can immediately turn Electivire into an early-game monster as it helps you fulfill the condition for maximizing its Exciting Voltage. If your opponent uses a Water-type deck or Pokemon ex that takes multiple turns to set up, you basically have the upper hand to win the game.
Other notable cards in the deck
Pokemon Communication and Poke Ball
These Item cards will help you turn your Electabuzz to Electivire as soon as possible. Magnezone might take some time to develop, so prioritize acquiring your Electivire using the Pokemon Communication.
A copy of Poke Ball won’t also hurt this deck, especially if all you have at your first turn is a couple of Magnemite.
Professor’s Research and Cyrus
It’s hard to imagine a meta deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket without the Professor’s Research. In case you haven’t realized this already, the expert AI in Solo Mode almost guarantees that it will draw a copy of this Supporter card in turn 1 or 2. There’s definitely no downside in drawing two extra cards in a single turn, especially if your deck is relying on fast Pokemon.
Cyrus is another staple card that keeps your opponent from performing any delaying tactics, especially if they will try to take advantage of retreating their wounded Active Pokemon to the Bench.
Giant Cape and Rocky Helmet
Any of these Pokemon Tools work fine with both Electivire and Magnezone, but if you have the chance to use the Rocky Helmet, give it to Electivire for some extra return damage.
Strengths
As already mentioned, this deck is highly dangerous when used against a variety of Flying-type Pokemon like those pesky Zapdos ex and Skarmory. With Electivire as your main guy, this deck can demolish a slow Palkia ex deck.
Since it doesn’t use any Pokemon ex, you can use this deck in Solo mode to clear battle tasks involving the use of low rarity cards.
Weaknesses
Never use this Lightning deck against Fighting or Ground-type decks. Cards like Lucario or Garchomp ex will make short work of Electivire and might even close out the game while you still develop your important pieces.
Although it’s good against Water-type decks, those that use Articuno ex or Starmie ex can overpower Electivire, especially if powered up by lucky Misty coin flips.
Final Thoughts
You might think of other yellow decks out there, but the build that we shared above is arguably the best Lightning deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket, which can even rival the popular meta decks of the same type, such as Pachirisu ex or Pikachu ex.
To score wins with Electivire, feed it with as many Lightning Energies as you can, and it should snowball in the later turns, Knocking Out your opponent’s main mons before they can even retaliate.
