Are you planning to add some of the most expensive cards in Paradox Rift? If that’s the case, feel free to use this article as your personal checklist!
Pokemon TCG: Paradox Rift is an expansion that puts the Paradox Pokemon into the spotlight.
This odd group of Pokemon may resemble other Pokemon species we’re familiar with, but their physical features might rouse suspicions about their origins.

Editor’s Update (October 2024): See the rift between past and future by getting the Paradox Pokemon from Paradox Rift! We added a card list link in this content so you might want to see it as well!
10. Iron Hands ex (Ultra Rare)
In the video games, this robotic version of Hariyama can cheese out five and six star Tera raids with its Quark Drive + Belly Drum build.
Meanwhile, in Pokemon TCG, Iron Hands ex can speed up the progress of the game in your favor with its Amp You Very Much move, which is even deadlier if it knocks out an ex Pokemon (that’s three Prize cards for you!).
9. Parasol Lady (Special Illustration Rare)
This cheerful lady who has a particular love for rain made its debut in the Gen 3 Pokemon games. Since then, we can occasionally meet her in rainy locations with her team of weather-altering Pokemon.
If you liked using the VIP Battle Pass in your deck (which is now banned in the current Standard Rotation), you can replace it with a Parasol Lady, so you have a card that helps you locate more Pokemon cards at any phase of the game, especially during your first turn.
8. Garchomp ex (Special Illustration Rare)
Tera Pokemon cards like this Garchomp ex are quite tricky to fight against in games, as their types are different from what they used to have, and they’re practically invincible while they’re on the Bench Spot.
Oswaldo KATO, the one behind Garchomp ex’s Special Illustration Rare card, did a great job in portraying a Water Tera-type Dragon Pokemon. Just look at those beautifully-colored waves!
7. Steelix (Illustration Rare)
Other than the Paradox Pokemon, the most expensive cards in Paradox Rift also featured cards depicting the daily lives of Pokemon, such as this Steelix lifting a worker on a construction site.
This copy of Steelix pairs well with Tera Pokemon cards in the Bench Spot since you can just spawn its Earthquake without the move’s drawback, all for a cost of one basic Metal Energy card.
6. Gholdengo ex (Special Illustration Rare)
We can say that Gholdengo is an expensive Pokemon in a literal sense, since its body is composed of 1000 coins, which it can use as weapons to defend itself.
Artwork-wise, this Gholdengo ex has a rather peculiar color combination that almost makes it look like a gold Pokemon card.
As a Pokemon surrounded by gold coins, it’s no surprise that its Special Illustration Rare card will have a higher-than-average price tag.
5. Iron Hands ex (Special Illustration Rare)
This list won’t be a complete one without the Special Illustration Rare card of Iron Hands ex. It’s basically the same as its Ultra Rare version, but with dope artwork.
We’re not sure why this Iron Hands is making some holes in the ruined walls with its palm strikes, but it’s better to leave it alone as it seems to be having a good time.
4. Iron Valiant ex (Special Illustration Rare)
Similar to Zapdos ex of Pokemon 151, this Iron Valiant ex has a Special Illustration Rare artwork that also features other Pokemon.
It’s quite a fitting image considering the fact that Iron Valiant shares the same habitat with Iron Thorns, Iron Moth, and Iron Bundle.
Its artwork alone might be the only reason for its value because it has a lame move that can only be used once every other turn.
3. Altaria ex (Special Illustration Rare)
Using its cloud-like body, it can fly unnoticed in the air, but Altaria’s gentle nature allows it to mingle with other Flying-type Pokemon, as seen in this Special Illustration Rare card.
Both of Altaria ex’s move and ability are powerful mechanisms that can turn the tide of a game, with its healing and effect-negating engines.
2. Groudon (Illustration Rare)
A number of Hoenn-inspired cards also made their way into Paradox Rift. Take a look at this Groudon that uses Fighting Energy instead of Fire to power up its molten-hot attacks.
Groudon is said to be the one responsible for creating continents and other land masses, and despite being a Ground-type mon, it doesn’t mind being near hot places like volcanoes.
1. Roaring Moon ex (Special Illustration Rare)
The Special Illustration Rare Roaring Moon ex is by far the best card that you can pull among the most expensive cards in Paradox Rift.
While its artwork is a testament to its strength (look at those poor Scream Tails!), its moves are in a league of its own.
This card basically has a one-hit KO move, which heavily damages itself, while taking out 300-HP+ baddies like Charizard ex.
Alternatively, if you want to prolong the lifespan of a Roaring Moon ex, you can use its Calamity Storm move instead, which can deal a total of 220 damage if you discard a Stadium in play.
Most Expensive Cards in Paradox Rift: Conclusion
Now that you know everything about the most expensive cards in Paradox Rift, you can now start your chase card hunting, especially with the Special Illustration Rare cards of Paradox Pokemon.
Each Paradox Pokemon card is endowed with moves and abilities that can help you come up with better strategies in the current meta, so don’t forget to take advantage of them when you’re building a deck for competitive games.
